KICKSTARTER UPDATE!!
[Read on for more information]

Passionate about Japanese Culture?
Do you love cakes, confectionery, and speciality drinks?
Wish you could visit the Maid Cafés of Japan but can’t make the trip?
Well, let the Café come to YOUR city!

Four weeks ago, we wrote about Otaku Café and their aim to bring a travelling Maid Café setup to conventions across the country. We also featured their Kickstarter campaign to fund the final step of their efforts. They have since re-evaluated their original target and as such replaced their first Kickstarter to reflect the change!

You now have a renewed opportunity to fund this exciting venture! Here’s what they had to say about the matter:

Hi everyone,
After reviewing our target for the Kickstarter we found that because we had begun to buy and put together the essentials for the Cafe, the target goal was too high. Therefore we have cancelled the original Kickstarter and will be replacing it with a brand new one with a much more desirable target.

To all those that had already pledged; as discussed no money will be taken from you, but please feel free to pledge once more. Once the new Kickstarter launches.

We would like to thank everyone so far for your continued support, likes and shares.
We love and appreciate every single one of you.

~ Otaku Cafe Team

OTAKU CAFÉ is a “UK based Maid Cosplay Café setup, providing authentic Japanese treats and drinks” to events and conventions across the country, served by their delightful themed Maids. The thing that sets them apart from others you may have seen is they are a travelling company, setting up booths and refreshment areas at events nationwide as opposed to only having a single shop in one site! That’s not all – they have a lot of BIG and EXCITING plans for the near future, so watch this space!

Here’s a little excerpt from their page, talking about what inspired them to get this company going:

“After travelling to Japan a few times (Since 2011), we experienced the maid cafe franchise in many different ways, this ranged from quirky to weird. We had so much fun and enjoyed the interaction with every cafe we visited, so it only seemed right to want to share those experiences. Because of these experiences we felt that the UK deserved to feel how we felt when being surrounded in this atmosphere. From that moment on we decided to create Otaku Cafe and bring the same experiences to those that cannot travel to Japan themselves.”

Their experience not only includes the trained Maids and Butlers, but on site games and fun competitions, and photo opportunities with the impeccably dressed staff. The warm atmosphere and friendly team paired with their excellent selection of goodies will not fail in pleasing even the most discerning of Japan-fans!

However, to be a full-on success, THEY NEED YOUR HELP!!

There is a KickStarter Campaign set up by their established company, and they need your pledges to get their ball rolling at full speed! The money raised will go towards their expenses for getting around the country to other areas, as they are currently situated in London, and booking their places at more events far and wide. This will increase their reach, and increase the chances of visiting MORE cities to provide their service!

“The pledges received from our Kickstarter will allow us to get started with building up Otaku Cafe. This will allow us to partake in events such as MCM Expo, Hyper Japan and Kitacon. If successful, we are hoping to bring Otaku Cafe to different locations within the UK. We have already started the company, hired our maids, purchased the uniforms and accessories, finalised our menu and obtained prizes from Japan for our competition winners. In addition, the more money we raise gives us a better chance of us taking part other conventions across the country!”

The KickStarter is live until April 26th 2015, so you still have time to get on board with the OTAKU CAFÉ, and a chance to gain some super rewards for pledging – including a hamper of goodies, Convention passes, T-shirts, stickers, badges, free Café treats, and VIP passes to their booth with special treatment!

So, hop across to their KickStarter, grab yourself a great gift, or just spread the news and get your friends excited for this wonderful opportunity to share in contemporary Japanese café culture here at home!
